Lately we have faced numerous late model scanners such as the Uniden Bearcat BC780XLT, BC250D, and Radio Shack Pro-433, Pro-95, Pro-94, and similar scanners that manufacturers are not supporting! Radios such as the Radio Shack Pro-2067 with VCO related problems and reliability issues that these companies ignored. It would be very easy for companies this large to offer trade values for more reliable equipment but while customers complained, no one listened. I find it very unsettling for any product where people are paying upwards of three to four hundred dollars for radios that may only last a few years. Radios such as the BC780XLT were very sought after that now sits in bins here because someone at a higher level in Uniden, either does not care or never anticipated the need to keep these radios going. You cannot convince me that management cannot decide to restock parts known to be common failures.
Given our Country's current economic status and a time where companies need to make an extended effort to keep and reassure customer satisfaction, I find it truly fascinating that these companies think that they are going to be able to survive treating customers this way.
You would think that my opinion should be the more broken radios, the more I repair. However, everyone loses when parts are obsolete and companies do not support what they sell.
